Our students regularly go on to join Ivy schools and become community leaders. The values they learn during their martial arts journey are the same you teach at home and last a lifetime.
Social interaction teaches kids how to effectively work as part of a team.
Martial arts helps improve coordination and is an excellent form of exercise.
Building healthy habits early on can help prevent obesity and diabetes later in life.
Belt testing provides an excellent exercise for kids in learning how to set and achieve goals. Their self-esteem will continue to rise with each accomplishment as they watch their hard work pay off.
Complex physical activities such as martial arts have proven to strengthen the brain’s neural networks, helping kids improve their focus and self-control. This can be especially beneficial for kids with ADD/ADHD.
The traditional nature of martial arts teaches kids respect in their classes, whether they are taking a bow or waiting patiently for the next set of instructions. This sense of respect also helps kids improve their grades while improving their listening skills at home and in school.
We do a free trial and you won’t get any hard sales tactics. Just try the class out, have fun, and if you like it, come back. We keep that informal approach when you become a regular student. No contracts or collections and tuition is just month-to-month.
The kids’ class always begins with warm-up, stances, drilling the basics, and a high-impact heavy bag workout. Then we finish with the material needed for their belt promotions.
In the adult class (12 years and older), the warm-up format is similar but includes stretching, followed by a different activity depending on what day of the week you attend.
Our martial arts classes' primary goal is to make sure our students have fun in a playful, safe environment. Come and see a class for yourself - the kids have a blast and our instructors do too.
No, our classes are a good mix of boys and girls of all fitness levels. Beginners train alongside some of the more experienced kids, helping each other out in a fun team environment.
That really depends on the student. We do nothing to hide or hold back any of the belt material. We attempt to show every person at every class something they need for their next belt level. We usually start from the lowest and work towards the most advanced. Often the last student will wait until after we dismiss the whole class because we have already exhausted our class time.
The more someone attends, the faster they get all the parts they need. They also must keep up the material they have seen so they don’t finish learning the last part while forgetting the first. The more ownership they take in their own practice the less time we spend relearning and reviewing. Also, there are both video and written manuals for every belt level available in our online student section. The best option is to attend as many classes every month you can, and schedule a 30 min private lesson once a week to really speed up the process and sharpen your technique.
