Don’t Get Trapped In A Contract!
Unfortunately, many martial art schools are now insisting that their students or parents of students sign extended contracts. The reason is simply that they are uncertain you will be satisfied with their program after a month or two, and they want to ensure a financial commitment from you in the beginning. Then you are forced to make a mandated monthly payment even if you or your child doesn’t attend class or finds dissatisfaction with the program. If this is your current situation, please see our Second Chance Program.
Beware! In addition to these contracts, there are several other ways schools can financially trap you such as EFT payment methods, outrageous registration fees, and expensive uniforms.
EFT – This is a payment method in which a payment is automatically withdrawn from the students’ checking accounts periodically (usually monthly). The school will tell you it’s not a contract, but just try to stop the payments!! Usually you will wind up contacting the payment company yourself, and at best dealing with a person on the phone that you’ve never met who really doesn’t want to stop taking your payment. At worst, it can take several months to stop the payments, and possibly result in the inconvenient hassles of closing your checking account.
Outrageous Registration Fees – Any registration fee that is $30 or more is just another way to get your money up-front.
Expensive Uniforms – Many schools mandate “special affiliation” patches or other things that students “must” have on their uniforms. Do these things make a student better? No. It’s just a way to get more money up-front. Any beginner uniform that is $40 or more is overpriced.
Don’t get trapped in these financial situations! At Bluegrass Martial Arts, we want you to keep coming back only because you’re receiving quality instruction, experiencing personal development, and having fun—not because of a financial trap.
Bluegrass Martial Arts offers a free introductory class. This is an opportunity for you to see if the training methods and school atmosphere are right for you. We can set up a Shaolin Kempo introductory class with one of our qualified instructors at a time that is convenient for you. This class is free with absolutely no obligation. To get started, just call 499-4050.
Are you, or do you know people who are dissatisfied with their martial arts school?
The Bluegrass Martial Arts Second Chance Program is designed to assist families who are trapped (by contracts) at schools that are substandard and/or do not fully address their needs.
The Contract Scam: Unfortunately, many consumers, bewildered by choices, settle on a school for a variety of reasons such as location, convenience, price, or even worse, high-pressure sales tactics. After a brief and often uninformative introductory course, they are pressured into signing a non-refundable, one year or longer, membership contract. With these students feeling that their expectations are not met and that they are wasting their time, money, and energy, they may leave the program and never train again, failing to realize the personal fulfillment that the martial arts could have on their lives and health.
The Second Chance: Because the instructors at Bluegrass Martial Arts sincerely wish every student personal development, safety, and satisfaction with his or her training, we are extending anyone trapped by a contract a second chance to study the martial arts in its ultimate capacity. If you are not reaching the highest potential the martial arts can bring to you, the Second Chance Program provides you with a way to further advance your martial arts training.
Under the Second Chance Program, Bluegrass Martial Arts will honor memberships from other schools up to 12 months based on the following criteria:
- Students must present a valid contract from their original school at the time of transition.
- Students are responsible to pay the difference in tuition rates (if applicable).
- Students’ ranks will be evaluated and adjusted to meet the standards of Bluegrass Martial Arts.
If you know someone who would be interested in the Bluegrass Martial Arts Second Chance Program, please call 499-4050.

Free Month Tuition: Pay for three months and get a month for free. If done at sign up, you get a free uniform.
